So I'm told it's 6 to 8 weeks for parcels to get to Canada from China. Today I felt like it was /christmas /eve- running around like a madwoman covering the family members I had not yet purchased "trinkets' from China for ( is that a "dangling participle??? Oh Oh - I'm the English teacher here…….). I had been "casually" picking up things here and there and putting family names on them. Once I got my "Secret Santa " name via email, I realized it would be nice to have things for everyone to open.
One is my "Secret Santa'- the others are just silly little things from Shanghai. No Xmas cards this year, folks. They do not exist- at least I have not found them.
I get "two days" off for Xmas in my contract……. a Wednesday and a Thursday…..that will be interesting. But, It will be a interesting "teaching tool" in the classroom- especially for my younger students who LOVE to draw.
My colleague from Russia has re-assured me she has a Xmas "bush" - complete with decorations - and she will erect this in our "shared kitchen/living room". And, we've talked about doing a Xmas "pot-luck" with the other Foreign teachers- which is sweet - as she is Russian Orthodox and her "holiday" comes much later.
