Temple and beach and Pedestrian Market (again)

I thought I could walk to Xiamen  University  (the hotel map is deceiving)- so glad I took a taxi- would have melted in the heat.
It took 20 minutes by cab - after I paid the drive and got out, I was told the next "visit" was at 5 pm. It was 2:30. "The students are studying very hard" I was told. So, about 25 of us were turned away. I tried the " I am a teacher inShanghai" routine- but it did not work.
Thank goodness the  Nanpudoa Temple is right across the road.
Beautiful and free!
Visited the beach, and visited the Zhongshan Pedestrian Market for the third time.
Way too short- plane leaves at 11 am tomorrow.
I have plans to visit the oldest market in Xiamen - the 8th market - but that depends on when I wake up. It's a 20 minute walk.
