I have a four-day break - April 15 to 18 (and then a weekend!)- while the students at Shanghai Foreign Languages School write their Mid Term tests.
I have heard so much about Xiamen- the South Shore- it's blue skies, clean air and natural beauty. So, yesterday I booked my trip there. A long walkable sea shore with beautiful rock formations. Oh, how I need this after the loud, dirty, crowded city of Shanghai!
There are some islands that you can ferry to every ten minutes and no cars are allowed on the islands. It's foot paths all the way. Sounds divine.
A very famous temple and an old - very large University- are also sites recommended to visit. Lingtai told me the grounds of Xiamen University are so beautiful, they outshine ANY park you can find in Shanghai. That's a lot of praise from a guy who is a proud born and raised Shanghai-nese.
As well, there is huge a pedestrian shopping street- my favourite kind!
It is only one-and-a-half hours away by air- another "yeah!"- and I have booked a "sea view" room at the Indigo Hotel- it looks lovely and was recommended by Victoria.
Counting down the days……………….
