Babies, the Underground "fake" market, the Bund, and odds and sods……..

Dawn - like my sister Jo- likes to connect with babies and make them laugh. Here is just one of the many babies she has charmed since she has been here. They are ALL so very cute! And, parents are quite please when we make a "fuss" over their babies. They bring them right over to us.

The fake market - the biggest in Shanghai - at the Metro Underground at the Shanghai Museum of Science and Technology - Line 2.
We discovered a Brazilian (!!!!!) western-style  restaurant in this Underground market. Shanghai continues to surprise me. I had the amazing Salad Bar - chicken, seafood, breads, pickles, avocado, salads - ALL the foods I have missed these last the months. Dawn had the Margarita pizza. We had leftovers…...
Dawn needed some anti-inflammatories for her swollen feet. We visited the HUGE Pharmacy on Nanjing Pedestrian road and found what she needed. This cute little clerk was SO fashionable with her multiple-peirced ears, blond hair and excellent English! She agreed to the photo…...
Here's a rather blurred photo of Dad and cute baby who brought him over when we made a "fuss" from afar. This little guy could wave and say Hoa-  short for Ni Hoa ( hello) on Nanjing Pedestrian Road.
 Nanjing Lu ( road)
OMG! I LOVE the Tourist areas!!! Fake guitar with music blaring in the back found to get passersby to eat in this restaurant. And THREE separate occasions with Chinese ( young) people (tourists to Shanghai) wanting to speak English with us and have them take their picture.
 YuYuan Garden Tourist Market………...
 Ditto
I have always wanted to eat in the local ( local) restaurant in my ( Hongkou) neighbourhood. Dawn ( reluctantly) agreed. Of course, the men smoked in the restaurant (This is not regulated in the local districts) - and was no quite sure of the food in the menu. Only pictures - No English. We ate rice, broccoli, spring rolls and I ordered Oysters. The latter were REALLY good!
The Broccoli dish was fine - with cooked sliced quail eggs and ham slices
The rice was tasty- ham, carrots, peas, corn
I did not eat the spring rolls, but Dawn said they tasted like "frozen" then heated
Oh well. With four days left to go in this city, I got my wish of eating really "local"
