Three-Hour Walking Guided Tour of Thai food…………….OMG!!!!

"Mod" was our tour guide- funny, sweet - fantastic! She  started by giving us some food-related words in Thai. ( Could have used those these last NINE days….)
We were ten people. One couple and their daughter and a Friend of the family and her son. From Amsterdam- these two families have travelled together for years- very nice people. A couple from England who had just spent two years living - guess where? Shanghai of course! He  was teaching English and she worked at the British Embassy. ( Of course, they lived in the French Concession in Pudong….)  "Alex" was from the U.S. and working for a NGO dealing with women for 6 months in Bangkok- she had been here only one month. Lovely young woman.
First stop- little pastries filled with your choice- mushrooms, pork, coconut, potato, etc. Very good! I had the potato...

First sit-down restaurant- specializing in Duck

Tender Duck on rice with picked cukes on the side.

Mod showing us - and peeling Tamerand- tasted like "fig"
Duck feet- wrapped in pig intestine

 Street marinades to cook with
 The shop keeper

Second restaurant where we had Guay-Teaw- Noodle soup. I chose Rice Noodles and the bowl was filled with fish balls, quail eggs and fried dough- delicious!
Street Vendor- where you point to the items and he/she fries it into a dough
 A local Wat- temple-

Mod is explaining the use of incense - three, six, nine- Multiples- and you pray for a husband, good health, better luck etc.

She then took us to a Muslim restaurant

 This was my FAVOURITE place!!!
This is cow brain- ti was really tasty- like chopped liver- Mod di not tell us what it was and insisted we try it and then guess what is was……………...
Water with Tea was the beverage
An egg and pastry dish- add vinegar, sugar of chilies
This was a fantastic curry soup- with egg, chicken and mini- eggplant the size of peas….

We then went to a bakery/pastery place for "sweets'
Pork-filled buns and tamarind-filled buns- they were wonderful
Iced-Milk Tea for the beverage. I bought Pumpkin chips here as a snack

Thai people leave offerings at trees- little alters with statues and for and drink and colourful ribbons for luck
Coconut Ice cream and tamarind Ice Cream - sweet and light

This is Dawn's shirt with splashes of everything from the food tour- lol!
