Got to the Pier and waited and looked and wondered and fretted. We REALLY hoped it was not a "scam" because we paid 2000 baht ( $60.00) for this tour. Decided to take the ferry back to the Resort - just in time for 15 minutes of the Breakfast Buffet….starving.
My baht ran out on my phone, so off I go to the Mini-mart to load up and Dawn went back to her room to check the information about this tour. ( Someone did not read her email until the end ………and the Guide waited until 10 a.m. for us - and even phoned the Resort looking for us…..)
Oh well. It was NOT a scam and we re-booked for Monday morning.
In the meantime, Dawn swam her lengths, I got my much-needed manicure and pedicure done- luxurious!
(BTW - My FIRST ever facial was in Aylmer BEFORE I left for China. I had NEVER had a manicure or pedicure UNTIL I went to China. Asian women LOVE their beauty treatments - and they are SO cheap. I'm addicted, but I don't know if I can pay those prices back home……)
We headed out again at 5 pm. to just "walk the streets" on the other side of the Pier. Dinner cost just under $5.00 each Canadian- and was lovely. I had grilled salmon ( I'm on a seafood frenzy here) and Dawn had her THIRD Pad Thai- awesome
Street Life on Stathorn Road in Bangkok:
Well, I just had to get this huge Coca Cola Ad after seeing it a bazzillion times at the Pier
Food Stalls
Trinkets
CROWDS and LOUD traffic
Some more "upscale " stores. We didn't go in…too expensive for our tastes, but beautiful clothes!
The entrance to a college
Dawn almost bought a dress here - cute!
A Shrine at the entrance of a huge Hotel/Shopping Mall. Like China, these are side-by-each with local streets- love it!
Our first "greetings" by musicians on the Pier tonight….sweet! I can get rid of my (worthless) Baht coin this way
After landing back at the Resort at 8 pm., we heard (once again) a party-like microphone noise
coming from within. We asked the doorman and they told us a Buddha ceremony one street over was in session. We decided to walk the ten minutes there…
Blurry - on foot and lots of crowds….
All activities to raise money for the Buddhist monks who manned each table and event
I am loading 20 baht into a clear plastic sleeve………..
We bought balls of chicken? pork? tofu? on a stick for 20 Baht and WOW - they were HOT (and sweet)
