A Walk through my neighbourhood & Chinese New Year/Spring Festival Speciality Items

I am often too timid to take photos of people's lives- especially when they live (almost) on the sidewalk in front of their tiny shops. But, here are a few interesting things in my neighbourhood.

This is how the working class gets around- and by  bus, of course. Even my Chinese colleague, Lingtai says the Metro is expensive. It's 2 rmb ($3.00 Cdn) to ride the Metro. I paid that for a 90 minute ride to the Shanghai Airport with three exchanges.
Mixed packages of snacks- especially nuts and sweets
 Bags of rice…………..
Yup- these are everywhere and by the number of young overweight children I see in the street, they are a big seller.

Um……..I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that RED is the celebratory colour.

 Even celebratory bras and socks……….
I'm never in want of nuts- walnuts, peanuts, almonds and other nuts I can't identify.

And in the Liquor section, these lovely gift sets. I have no idea what it is, but the bottles are pretty.

Of course- silly me- it's 52 Degree Yi Fan Fen Shun Li He - and it's only about $30.00 Cdn
I've wanted one of these babies since I moved here and they are on sale everywhere now.

It's a nice addition to my Dorm room
