First, a trip to the Shanghai Rail Station- Vicky needed tickets for a two-day visit to friends in Suzhou. Good trip for me _ I have not been and need to know.
Che Feng Lu Metro Line 3- the one where I get my bus to work. One simple stop and we are there. Massive, confusing, crowded. Find the ONE ticket window with an "English" sign in the window- yeah - it exists!
Back on Line 3 and switch to Line 7. Get off at Ji' Ang Temple stop.
Chinese New Year approaches and the displays and stuff for sale are everywhere
This is a pedestrian street with shops, shopping plazas and street vendors everywhere. Here we see some mushrooms. This is North-West of the People's Square- which I count as the centre of the downtown. But, honestly, it all looks "downtown " to me.
Before we head into into the "high-end" shopping plaza, we find the "Hot Pot" restaurant. The thing about eating at cool/popular places in Shanghai is that you have eat at "odd hours" OR - have a reservation- or you simply don't get in………….
I chose Mushrooms, egg dumplings, tofu, spinach, shrimp, and the house "hot sauce". It made me "choke" a few times, but it was amazing!
Then we went "shopping"
The Ji'ang Temple closed at 4:30 pm.- just as we were finishing up our late lunch- but it's easy to find. I can go back…………
A HUGE shopping market with lots of Imported items like chocolate, wine and Korean items- which are very popular in China
This is Vicky looking for Chocolate with "Sea Salt". She bought it here before, but alas we did not find it. What a nice area to live in……….I would shop here every day if I lived in this neighbourhood- which might "break the bank" as items are very pricey!
Look at these hilarious chocolate bars!!! I am definitely turning "Chinese" because I thought 55 rmb for a chocolate bar of a "Dog-like Michael Jackson"???? Are you out of your mind?????????
But, I sort of regret it now…………oh well, I have until June/July…………
Roasted Turkey Leg- I was SO tempted, but again, I was still "full" from "Hot Pot" and it was way too expensive!
Pre-Packaged salads…..Mmmmmmmm! And, Sushi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Zhongshan Yei Bei Lu" Xie Xie!
So, I happened to mention that the "blonde" in the background looked like a Canadian "hooker" in Winter. She laughed so hard and said "That girl is either from Russia or the Ukraine, and "yes" she would look like a "hooker" there too. I'll stand here and you get a photo of her"
The lights and decorations ( also) looked like Xmas still in this area
Plus 5 C until the sun goes down- "some" flowers still in bloom- Wow! The woman from Russia and the woman from Canada in "awe"
