I just about fell off my chair last week when Jo gave a PowerPoint presentation on "The male gaze". It was the last one of the period and things got chaotic while we changed classes. But, this morning, I was able to chat with her for a bit. She studied in the U.S. in New York State ( for one year of high school) and learned about "gender studies" there. That's what she wants to study this September in University--back in the U.S. I could not believe it. She told me everyone in class knows she's a "feminist"- a FEMINIST!!!!!!!- but they don't really understand it. She is currently working on a web site for women to share their experiences with sexual assault, and sexism. Wow. Just, WOW.
She has an open invitation to my place in Canada next year. I want to bring her to class, to my Book Club, to a pot-luck dinner and anywhere else she is willing to go!!!!!
This is a gift from Jane (student) that I received this morning. We shared a birthday last Monday. So sweet! It's a chime
Here are some Pre Junior faces that greet me on Monday morning's class.
