The "Genius Bar" at the Apple Store, hard-working students, more eye exercises

When PC users roll their eyes at avid Mac users, I sometimes get it. In sociological terms, it is a form of "conspicuous consumption" and the Apple-or-nothing brand loyalty is a little over the top ( Hey, I'm guilty). But, today when I took my sick MacBook Air to the Apple store in Shanghai, it was my first encounter with the "Genius Bar". There were four "geniuses" on shift and I waited 30 minutes for my "appointment" with "Genius Johnny". (I took his picture, but alas, it did not turn out). While he was testing the battery and the system, I asked him where he trained to be a genius. His English was not as good as "Jerry's"- the guy who sold me my iPad Mini . Too bad. Jerry would have laughed. Johnny just tried to look up the words- I told him don't worry.

SO VERY GLAD TO HAVE MY LAPTOP BACK!!!! Thank you Sergei for suggesting I take the Apple Care Warranty two-and-a-half years ago. Well worth!

My Pre-Juniors ( Grade 6) have started their presentations and as I expected, were beautifully prepared.
Most of them chose to talk about their travels- either with the school- or with their families. Hong Kong, Thailand, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. ( I thought to myself- humph! I've been there!) But I enjoyed their impressions and their photos. It brought back good memories.

Here they are, not praying - but hard at work on their eye exercises- which follows my class and I have to stay and "supervise".

This week, with my Junior 2s (Grade 8) I had them do a puzzle - in reverse. I gave them a completed puzzle and they had to write the ACROSS and DOWN  instructions. They loved it!!!!
This particular group (photos below)  is  one of two that have given me "disciplinary" problems in the past. I could not believe how involved they were - helping each other, laughing and asking me the English words for their "instructions".

Above: Gordenson and William- two of my "bad boys". I have removed them from class several times. Look at how "good" they are!!!! I asked them if they had been smoking opium.
Lucas and Victor (blue jacket). Cute as buttons, but can be so bad!!!!!
Below: Edison the artist. Would much rather draw in my class, but there he is working….huh!
