Celebrating International Workers' Day at the Salvo Hotel on the Bund

Having been warned about the crowds - and this would also refer to buses and Metro Lines- and having been promised a BONUS in my May 5th pay cheque, I decided to be IN the Bund area for my three-day holiday.
The Salvo

I checked in at 11 a.m on Thursday May 1st and was told to go to the VIP check-in on the 31st (top0 floor. I never ask anymore, I just follow instructions.
On the 31st floor I was told I had been upgraded to a suite - for the same price. $90.00 USD per night - outrageous by Chinese Standards - but location, location, location. And the Suite was sweet!

Two rooms with two TVs. Wow.
And on the 31st floor ( this is the 21st floor) was an Executive Suite Lounge with comfortable seating, newspapers and magazines, free beverages, coffee and snacks. I still don't know what happened???

Sunshine sent me a text telling me to "be careful" as the city would be very crowded on this holiday. The "be careful" warnings from her in the past have centered on simply the massive crowds ( worried about me tripping again?) and/or pick pockets .She is definitely right about the crowds. I could barely move on the sidewalks yesterday. But I loved walking on the Bund and I found my way to my favourite Foreign Book Store and browsed for about an hour and made some purchases.
Meandering the back way to Fuzhou Rd to avoid the crowds.

 Bought bananas here
I have no idea?????? But, I liked it!
Lookee here. A Fashion Photo shoot
All the back alleys here look like the ones  in my neighbourhood

The Book I bought. It's fantastic. I'm already half way through
