THEN- my favourite bus driver let me ride for free today- he is trying to communicate with me- but I only know few phrases and words. I told him " Ni hen hao" and my students confirmed I told him he was a "nice man". ( Literally: You very good)
So the city is hosting a political meeting on May 21st. School ended today at 4th period- 11:20 a.m. Vicky agree to help me with my Western Union transfer of funds to Canada.
A few miscommunications- what else is new? But all was well in the end. Went to CoCo Curry for lunch - my first time- but it is a chain here and lunch was FABULOUS! You get to pick how ugh rice you want and how hot you want it- I chose 4 chilli papers - Vicky chose 1. No ics - sorry- too hungry!
Walked around and shopped at Marks & Spencer ( my undergarments have taken a beating from the washing machines here) - had tea.
Line 2 to Line 8 and we are at Xiantandi- a very fashionable and ex-pat favourite place for the shopping and restaurants. Decided to see "Spiderman"
It was too long, too loud and not as good as the last one.
BTW- Vicky needed cash at the ICBC in the Metro- and guess what we found?
ICBC - our bank ( the Foreign teachers chosen by our employer) in Shanghai, is clear concerned about our health- they offer free healthy snacks! ( Only in China…………………)
Night life on a Tuesday evening in Xiantandi
