Neighbour and colleague Vicky ( Russian teacher) invited me to spend the afternoon in Yugarden and in the shops around it. One bus ride, then a three-stop Metro ride and we were there.
Part of the Quing Dynasty, it was being destroyed for new construction. A very wealthy man bought a small section of it as a gift for his parents. Beautiful. Full of nooks and cave-like walks and ponds, it winds it's way.
That's Vicky- funny, brash, with good Mandarin phrases to get us around. This is her third year teaching in China.
